Scope and Content: This course exceeds OSHA 29 CPR 1910.157 for portable fire extinguisher training and fire prevention. Through classroom and live fire training, the participant will understand the classes of fire, select the correct extinguisher, and demonstrate extinguishing a small fire. Topics covered include personnel safety and using a fire extinguisher, basic chemistry of fire, classes of fire, and emergency action if a fire is discovered. This class will show the type fire extinguisher used at your facility and any special type extinguishers.

Prerequisite: No previous training necessary

Student Enrollment: 10 minimum

The purpose of this program is to familiarize the staff in preventing fires and ensuring their safety. The class is taught at your facility by a fire department speaker. We teach fire prevention and fire extinguisher use for life saving purposes only.

Please note: An “open burning ban” issued by the Fire Marshal automatically cancels all hands-on training. Every effort will be made to communicate a cancellation as soon as possible.
